Highly acclaimed interactive session with Keith Smith featured at CMAA Legal Conference
What to do when your client receives a bid protest is only one of many hot button issues to be covered in a CMAA legal seminar with nationally celebrated litigator Keith Smith on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Long Beach Marriott. Joining Smith on the interactive panel with actual “ripped from the headlines” Bid Protest case studies are experts Marcia Haber Kamine, Bernard Kamine and Chip Ossman. Each case study is presented with experienced attorneys role-playing as agency counsel, protesting bidder, and defending Bidder.
“This seminar provides the Construction Manager with the tools and best practices to advise agency clients when they receive a bid protest,” said Smith. “How to ensure the contract award will survive post-protest challenges will also be covered in this legal session.”
Smith works regularly with construction industry clients from project inception to project completion, including contract preparation and negotiation, requests for proposals, risk management and counseling during construction, and resolution of construction claims in mediation, arbitration and trial. This work includes risk management and litigation on projects in excess of $1 billion, including a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas strip, new schools and classrooms for public and private institutions, sports facilities, water treatment facilities, hospitals, residential tract homes and high rise condominiums. He also represents school districts and public entities, including representation of the largest community college district in the nation regarding the implementation and administration of its $6 billion construction bond program.
