Wood Smith Henning & Berman is pleased to announce that Los Angeles partner, Domingo Tan, is a finalist for West Coast Casualty's Jerrold S. Oliver Award of Excellence. This distinguished award, affectionately known as the "Ollie," is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated outstanding contributions and commitment to the betterment of the construction defect community.
Named after the late Judge Jerrold S. Oliver, a true "founding father" in the alternate resolution process for construction defect claims and litigation, the award symbolizes loyalty, commitment and trust within the industry. Judge Oliver's legacy as a true believer in the resolution process continues to inspire those who strive for excellence in the construction defect community today.
"Domingo's nomination and selection as a finalist for the Ollie Award is a testament to his unwavering commitment and exceptional contributions to the construction defect community," said Stephen Henning, WSHB founding partner. This honor, named after a true pioneer in the field, recognizes those who exemplify the spirit of Judge Oliver - dedication, integrity and professionalism. "Domingo embodies all these qualities, and I am thrilled that he is being recognized."
Henning, the first defense lawyer to win the "Ollie" practiced for years before Judge Oliver. "He would have loved Domingo, his ability to navigate the most complex construction cases with ease and his negotiation prowess," said Henning. "Domingo is thorough, prepared, knows all facets of his cases and enjoys a stellar reputation for professionalism with every stakeholder in the process."
The Jerrold S. Oliver Award of Excellence is presented annually at West Coast Casualty's Construction Defect Seminar. The recipient is honored during the seminar and receives a plaque acknowledging their significant achievements. This year, West Coast Casualty received an overwhelming response from the construction defect community, with 2,675 nominations received over a 30-day nominating period. The winner will be revealed at the upcoming 30th Anniversary Construction Defect Seminar on May 16, 2024, at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
"The construction defect community has been such an important part of my life for 25 years," said Domingo. "I am truly grateful for the many personal and professional relationships that I have made in the community and I am honored to be considered as a finalist for the Ollie Award."
