Included on the highly anticipated list of 2018's Outside Counsel of the Year is Stephen Henning, one of the co-founders of WSHB. Henning will be one of the honorees during the opening ceremonies of the CLM Annual Conference which takes place on March 14, 2018, in Houston, Texas.
Outside Counsel of the Year honorees were announced this week by the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). This highly coveted national award is the result of an arduous nomination process by the entire membership, the largest professional organizations of lawyers, general counsel and claim professionals in the United States.
"I am surprised, humbled and thrilled to be honored as one of the Outside Counsel of the Year nominees." said Henning. "People who navigate, litigate and resolve the most complex legal issues in the nation are the ones who drive the nomination process and award. Peer driven recognition is the best validation a lawyer can receive."
As one of the co-founders of WSHB, Henning has been instrumental in the growth of the firm into a national litigation powerhouse with 22 offices in 14 states. He is a national thought leader and frequent speaker on a variety of emerging litigation issues. Steve has served as the co-chair of the CLM National Construction Conference since its inception and serves as a member of the Advisory Board. He has previously been honored as the first defense lawyer to receive the Jerrold S. Oliver Award for contribution to the construction industry.
"I've known Steve for over 20 years, and can honestly say one of his core values is giving back to others," said WSHB partner Constance Endelicato, who was recently honored by Business Insurance as a "Woman to Watch." "Steve is a savvy litigator, able to identify and stay ahead of emerging trends in law, while at the same time being extremely generous with his time, talent and energy. He’s always making sure the spotlight shines on others, I'm thrilled it is shining on him this time with this well-deserved honor."
A leader in his legal field, Henning is a skilled litigator, nationally recognized for results in complex construction, real estate, business and toxic tort litigation. He regularly represents Fortune 500 companies and preeminent members of the business community, including some of the nation’s largest residential and commercial public and private owners, homebuilders, developers, investors, contractors and lenders. Additionally, Henning has a thriving practice focused on public entities, handling all facets of litigation and risk management pertaining to construction and toxic tort issues.
An AV-rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell, for the past ten years he has been selected for inclusion as either a “Rising Star” or “Super Lawyer.”
In addition to his extensive legal practice, Henning regularly gives back to the community by taking on leadership positions in several national and local charitable organizations. He is the past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the March of Dimes, Board Member for a local public aid law firm, past member of the Alzheimer’s Association Board of Directors, and past President of the Construction Community Charitable Foundation. He currently also serves as Board Chair for several education based non-profits in the Los Angeles area.
