Overview

John Falgout is a member of the senior counsel class in WSHB's New Orleans office. He has extensive experience handling a wide variety of legal matters, particularly in representing insurers in both first- and third-party disputes.  He regularly evaluates coverage and advises carriers facing first-party and bad faith claims. John advised international and domestic insurers following the highly active 2020 and 2021 hurricane seasons. Additionally, John's practice includes commercial disputes, premises liability, transportation, complex torts and casualty, and transactional work.

Before embarking upon a law career, John served for over seven years in the United States Air Force. John was a two-sport D-1 athlete at the Air Force Academy, earning various honors. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force and obtained the rank of Captain. In 2016, John deployed with the United States Special Operations Command to support counterterrorism operations.

He graduated from Tulane University Law School with a J.D. and a certificate in Sports Law. At Tulane, John was the Senior Managing Editor of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal and Secretary of the Tulane Sports Law Society. He also clerked for the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal.

John is a member of several local bar associations and veteran organizations and enjoys supporting each in its respective mission.
