Overview

Sean Patel is a highly accomplished senior associate at WSHB’s Westport, Connecticut office. Sean represents a diverse range of clients, including multi-billion-dollar corporations and healthcare providers, in class action lawsuits and mass arbitration proceedings involving data breaches, pixels, and online trackers. Sean's expertise spans across all aspects of cybersecurity and data privacy matters involving state and federal law, including the FTC Act, HIPAA, ECPA, VPPA, CIPA, CLRA, CMIA, UCL, BIPA, Daniel's Law, and others. Sean also handles other complex civil litigation matters including securities, tech E & O, and commercial disputes.

Before joining the firm, Sean excelled as an asset management associate, providing outside counsel to Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan on various alternative investment ventures involving private equity and exchange funds. His extensive experience also includes a role as a compliance officer at Citigroup, where he managed regulatory inquiries from various government agencies and self-regulatory organizations, including the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Sean graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Law, which he attended on a Legal Merit Scholarship. At Quinnipiac University, Sean was one of only two individuals in his graduating class to complete the J.D./MBA dual program and the sole graduate to achieve the dual program with honors in three years. He then attended and graduated with distinction from the Executive LL.M. Program in Securities and Financial Regulation at Georgetown University School of Law.

He received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, in Data Analytics from the University of Connecticut.
